Hi! Haven’t posted here in a while, and that’s on me. My bad. I have seen some cool cars lately, and they are coming in an upcoming post. Here’s a Viper for now.
Anyways, I just got a laptop for college (Dell XPS 13, for those who are interested). I’m loading it with all the software I’ll need. I’m trying to decide on a web browser. I’ve always been a fan of Google Chrome, but I found it was using up an ungodly amount of RAM on my phone, so I switched to Opera mobile. I’m not even sure if it’s any better.
It’s a pretty good mobile browser, but on PC it’s not exactly ideal. They only offer a 32-bit version, so that might have something to do with it. It’s kind of slow, doesn’t work on certain websites, doesn’t work great with touchscreen, and all my bookmarks are in Chrome. What would you people recommend? Firefox is also an option, of course.

I am thoroughly in the Chrome camp. The memory usage has never been a problem for me, and Firefox for some reason has been nothing but slow and unresponsive once I have 5-6+ tabs open. And this is on an i7 and 16 gigs of RAM...
I’ve been testing out Edge on Windows 10 for work recently, and besides plug-in support, I’m very impressed so far.

I’ve always been a major chrome fan. But the other day I tried Firefox for the first time and was amazed at how fast and simple it was...

Update to Windows 10 (if it didn’t come with it) and use Edge.
Alternately, try Opera. I personally detest chrome and firefox.
How do you like the XPS? Thinking about one for my wife to replace her netbook (which runs 10 really well but she wants more power, haha).

Im with Garrett. Chrome is my go to. I always found it faster then FF. Edge doesnt seem too bad. But its even more of a ram hog then chrome at times.

+1 for Viper.
In terms of Internet browsers, my order of preference is chrome, Firefox, ie (it’s not nearly as bad as it used to be), and then opera. I have more ram than sense, so chrome doesn’t put a dent into anything. However, Firefox is pretty good too.

It really doesn’t matter, just DL them all and you’ll pick one eventually.

This has been my experience too, although I have 10 GB of RAM. Still haven’t tried Edge yet.

“Dell XPS 13”
That doesn’t mean much as you can configure it with different processors, ram, etc.
First issue... Upgrade the OS to either Win7-64 or Win8.1-64. For a touch screen, stick with Win 8.1. Or install the 64 bit version of Ubuntu Linux if you’re feeling adventurous and/or really cheap. Then upgrade it to at least 8GB of ram... but preferably 16GB.
And if the laptop doesn’t have a solid state hard drive, get one and do a clean OS install on the new hard drive.
And it’s not true that they didn’t offer these with the 64 bit version of Windows. They most certainly did. It’s just the one you bought was poorly configured with the 32 bit version.
All modern web browsers are memory hogs these days because of all the media-rich content they have to be capable of displaying with multiple tabs/sessions.
On the computers I use, I typically use Chrome and Firefox and use them interchangably.

I have 4GB RAM. I tried Firefox after Chrome and got bored while waiting for pages to load.
